Becky was diagnosed in 2005 with an auto-immune disorder that causes chronic pain and fatigue. We began researching how what we eat and what products we use can affect our health. Becky noticed that long warm baths with great smelling bubbles or soaks could not only help with her pain and fatigue but would relieve her stress and put her in a much better mood. However, parabens and petro chemicals are not at all good for your overall health.
Becky took an aromatherapy class at the local hospital. (the first of many essential oil and soap making classes for us) It was during this class that she learned our skin will absorb whatever products we use, good or bad. She began reading the labels of the bubble bath, soaps and lotions. What an eye opener!!! She began to seek out all natural products, but found them to be expensive and often lacking in scent.
In 2009 we made our first homemade product. Becky’s medical issues had progressed to a degree that she was no longer able to work and needed a hobby to occupy her time. She began making her own soaps and bath and body products. Then our oldest daughter, Natasha, became joyously pregnant with our first grandchild. The pregnancy did not agree with her skin. Her doctor told her she could not use any of the traditional acne products on the market and she asked us to make her an all-natural soap that would help with acne. After much research the first batch of Fresh Face was created and not only did it smell amazing it worked. Fresh Face continues to be our biggest selling product to this day.
We began to make soap and lotions to give as gifts to family and friends and thought we had a wonderful hobby on our hands. That is until our town approached us about setting up a booth for the annual "Dufur Thresing Bee" to sell our products. Very excited but nervous to put our products out there and actually ask for people to pay for them....we gave it a shot and in one weekend sold out of every single bar of soap we had. People began calling the house in the weeks that followed asking if they could order more. Bombshell Bath Company was now in business!
Natasha joined the Bombshell team in 2014. She manages most online sales, our Facebook page, and our website. She managed the online stuff from the East Coast during her husbands time in the Navy. As of May 2015 we welcomed her home to Oregon and are grateful to have an additional set of hands. Natasha has jumped in with both feet learning to create soap and her excitement has given life to new products. For our local customers you may see her manning the booth at markets and bazaars.
Our son, Jason, will lend a hand when he has the time to help out, whether that be making a delivery or wrapping soap. He has also had a hand in creating new soaps such as the Mechanics Hand Soap.
Bombshell Bath Company was born out of a personal need for natural bath products. While we continue to grow our product list as customer requests and needs arise we don't necessarily want to get bigger or to have our soap sold in large stores. We want to be a small family owned and operated business and will continue to source our supplies from local Gorge areas when possible and reputable USA companies when not. We enjoy creating all natural products that are good for you.
